The third edition of the Tikapur Literature Festival 2082 is scheduled to be held from Chaitra 13 to 15.

The Tikapur Literary Society announced the date and schedule of the three-day festival through a press conference held on Saturday. According to a press release issued by the conference, the third edition of the festival will be a special 'Tharu Literature and Cultural Festival'. The festival, which will have a total of 21 debate sessions, will have seven debate sessions each day. Each debate session will be 11 hours long. The festival will begin with a scholarly discourse titled 'Our Nation, Language and Culture' by linguist and creator of the alphabets of Nepali and 60 other languages, Madhav Prasad Pokharel. The Tharu community is predominantly found in Nepal, especially in Kailali, Kanchanpur, Banke, Bardiya and Dangdeukhuri. 'The Tharu language, Tharu folk literature and culture are Nepal's unique and original cultural traditions and identity, so the festival aims to preserve, enhance and promote them,' said Mahesh Bikram Shah, founder coordinator of the Tikapur Literary Festival.

‘Literature and cultural festivals are an important means to develop our native language and original culture as the identity and pride of the community, preserve it for future generations, and pass on its dignity and importance to the new generation,’ says Coordinator Shah.

In addition, the festival will feature discussions between scholars, experts, activists, researchers and common citizens from fields such as language, literature, art, culture, education, society, politics, development, and others.

The Far West Poetry Festival will be an important program of the festival for creators from the Far West Province.

The first-place poem in the poetry festival will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000, the second-place poem will be awarded Rs 10,000, and the third-place poem will be awarded Rs 5,000 and a certificate. Two people will be awarded certificates as consolation prizes. The organizers have stated that a collection of the best poems participating in the festival will also be published.

On the day of the guest arrival, the participants will be taken on a water festival in the Karnali River to give meaning to the festival's slogan 'Flying, Running, Floating Tikapur' and to promote tourism in the Tikapur region.

In the same evening, a 'Tharu Cultural Evening' will be organized to promote Tharu culture. There will also be a book exhibition throughout the festival.
