The third Children's Literature Festival concluded on Tuesday.
The festival, organized by Nepal Children's Literature Society, Lalitpur Metropolitan City and Patan Museum and co-organized by various organizations since Magh 11, concluded today at Patan Museum in Lalitpur.
During the festival, there were presentations of working papers on various topics of children's literature and child concerns, group discussions, book releases, children's talent exhibitions, and a children's book exhibition as well as a museum exhibition.
On Tuesday, in a group discussion on heritage, culture and children, speakers included Ramesh Raj Poudel, Executive Director of Patan Museum, Senior Children's Literature Writer Dr. Shailenduprakash Nepal and Miss Newa, Nepal Sambat 1145 Pralisha Shakya, and Patan Museum Officer Sureshman Lakhe had a debate. The debate discussed the contribution of heritage and culture to broadening the scope of children's knowledge.
Similarly, in another group discussion, journalist Sushila Tamang had a debate on the changing nature of children's literature with speakers senior children's literature historian Pramod Pradhan, critic and translator Mahesh Paudyal and writer Anuradha. The debate discussed the latest efforts and experiments in the field of children's literature.
Similarly, the working paper 'Children's Rights in Children's Literature' prepared by Gauri Pradhan was presented by Kumar Bhattarai, Executive Director of CWIN Nepal. Senior litterateur Prof. Dhruv Ghimire commented on the working paper, while journalist Yashoda Adhikari chaired the program.
Theatre artist, filmmaker and children's writer Kedar Shrestha presented a concept paper on children's literature along with children's theater and children's films.
Children's works were also released in two sessions today. At the Kopila Book Festival, senior children's writer Vijayraj Neupane's new children's poetry work - Sarathi Didi, Biraj Rai's Aina and Dhrub Shrestha's Hamro Nepal, Jaara Nepal were released, while Patan Stories, stories about Patan's heritage prepared through a workshop jointly conducted by the Nepal Children's Literature Society and the Patan Museum, were released.
