Senior musician Ranjit Gajmer has been honored with this year's 'Bise Nagarchi National Personality Samman'.

The prestigious award being given by the Gorkha Foundation was awarded this year during a grand ceremony held at Birtamode in Jhapa on Saturday.

Music composer Gajmer has given music to classical songs like 'Isharale Bolaun Palai', 'Soon Bhan Na', 'Kusume Rumal', 'Bas Hai Aama', 'Tungnako Dhunma', 'Lahnale Jurayo Ki'. Gajmer's contribution to the field of Nepali cinema and modern music has been highly appreciated.

Along with Gajmer, educationist Jayanarayan Dhungana has also been given the honor. According to Viru Darnal, president of the Gorkha Foundation, the organizer of

, in this event, Hasta Pariyar from the fields of music, literature and education, first FIFA referee Shyam Danuwar, Kantipur Karmi Parbat Portel, actor Subas Meche from the endangered Meche community and Nepal's first woman auto mechanic Niru Pariyar were also honored by Nepali Congress General Minister Bishwaprakash Sharma.
