'Dental bleaching' or teeth whitening is a common cosmetic procedure that is currently popular. Bleaching makes teeth whiter than their natural color and is not a lengthy process, but can be done in one go.

This is not a long process and can be done in one go. There are many methods of teeth bleaching. Such as in-office clinical bleaching, home bleaching and internal bleaching. Before bleaching, the dentist should check the teeth and the patient should inform about any allergies and syringing in advance.

Our baby teeth are whiter than other teeth, but the permanent teeth that come later are slightly yellow. Apart from that, the food we eat, vegetables, tea, coffee, red wine, cigarettes, tobacco, etc. also stain the teeth. Even if we use mouthwash containing tetracycline chloradine for a long time, the teeth look yellow. Some stains go away with simple scaling, while others require bleaching.

Before bleaching, the shade of the teeth is checked and a photo is taken. After bleaching, it is compared with the previous color. If the color is not satisfactory, the same process is repeated. Bleached teeth remain white for about 6 months. It also depends on how long the whiteness lasts in the patient's diet.

In-office clinical bleaching

In this method, a protective coating is applied to the gums and tissues around the gums so that the chemicals do not burn. Then, an in-office clinical bleaching agent is applied and left for a while or treated with a halogen light. The in-office clinical bleaching agent is removed after observing the color change. If the color is satisfactory, this process does not need to be repeated, otherwise the process must be repeated once more. This takes about an hour.

Home bleaching

In this process, a bleaching tray is first sent to the patient to be made according to their measurements. Then, a bleaching agent is placed in that tray. Usually, it can be placed up to 15 inches for the first time. Then, the patient is taught how to place it. This method can be repeated two to three times at home according to their needs.

Internal bleaching

This method is not used on all teeth, but on teeth that have been filled from the root. After the RCT is completed, the previously placed filling is removed and the part near the root is drilled. Then, the bleaching agent is placed and left for about two weeks. After two weeks, the same method is repeated. Only when the tooth is as desired, the final filling is done.
