World Kidney Day is celebrated every year on the second Thursday of March according to the English calendar. This day has been celebrated since 2006 to raise awareness about kidney disease.6 to 10 percent of people worldwide have some form of kidney problem. In this way, 800 million people worldwide have kidney problems.

The day has been celebrated in collaboration with organizations working in various international fields to raise awareness about the disease, which has so many problems, and at the same time to raise voice and pressurize policy making.

Even in Nepal, the condition of kidney disease is bad. Recent studies show that 6 to 10 percent of people have some kind of kidney problem. Every year, 3,000 to 5,000 Nepalis have complete kidney damage.

Kidneys balance the amount of fluids and salts in the body . Its main functions are to remove the waste in the body through urine, adjust the amount of water, acids and various salts in the body, regulate blood pressure, make red blood and activate vitamin D.

No symptoms are seen until the kidney is severely damaged . Normally blood waste is filtered by the kidneys . A young person's kidneys filter 100 ml of blood in a minute. If you choose less than 60 ml, we say you have kidney disease . If it reaches 15 ml, it is said to be damaged or not working. Collecting blood up to around 30 ml should not cause any problems .

Common problems are not wanting to eat, nausea, feeling tired even if you walk a little, not sleeping well at night, coughing at night, foamy urine, blood and blood pressure are the main targets of kidney disease .

If kidney disease is detected in time, there are ways to cure it. People with chronic diabetes, pressure, and those who are on regular treatment will be known quickly in Nepal. However, people who don't seem to have any problems in their youth seem to come to the doctor only as a last resort.

in the family  If you have kidney disease, the chances of getting this disease are high . People with low birth weight and high blood pressure and diabetes also have a higher risk of kidney problems. Those who are obese, smoke, and have heart disease are at risk of developing kidney disease .

People with kidney stones are also at risk of the disease . People with lupus are also at risk of kidney disease. Taking painkillers all the time also increases the risk of getting this disease . Kidney problems appear due to unhealthy diet, blood pressure, diabetes, stones etc. Too much stress and lack of sleep are also affecting the kidneys.

To protect the kidneys, we should use two to three and a half liters of water or loose material. It is also influenced by our weather, work . Drink plenty of water to avoid kidney disease,  Let's not smoke and drink alcohol, do physical exercise and pay attention to diet . Don't use red meat, don't hold back urine . Kidneys can be saved by doing this.
