Green sal leaf topper. Steaming hot cell roti on it. Pickles, potatoes and vegetables. Watching and eating. A homestay dish that entices the eyes before tasting it with the mouth.

Any guest who comes to the yard of Savitri Alemgar of Naruwal Magar Gharbas in Benisahar Municipality-2 of Lamjung gets to taste the original taste.

'The food should be sweetened and fed with hospitality,' she said while narrating her experience, 'if the words are sweet, the food will be more delicious.' Savitri does not only do business at home. Along with that, she directly/indirectly reflects the identity of her community's art, culture and traditions.

'Cell roti stomach full  eat !   made by Raithane Chamal.  does no harm .'

Savitri explains the benefits and flavors of each dish. Communication and Information Technology Minister Prithvisubba Gurung visited Naruwal Magar Gharbas a few weeks ago. The occasion of reaching was different . However, the hospitality and friendliness shown to Minister Gurung was the same as that of other guests.

In the same year, the minister was welcomed by serving dishes such as sel, pickles, etc. Savitri said, 'The more original the home is, the better.' Naruwal Magar Gharbas, which was inaugurated when the Minister of Communications Gurung Gandaki was the Chief Minister of the province, is the first Gharbas run by the Magar community in Lamjung District.

Lamjung is a district full of multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, culture and traditions. Although many communities here have demonstrated their art and civilization, Minister Gurung emphasized on the operation and promotion of Gharbas when he was the Chief Minister saying that it can become the main basis of tourism promotion. According to Minister Gurung, 310 Gharbas are operating in Gandaki province and 12 across Lamjung district.

'Lamjung is a residential district. Most of the people here operate Gharbas along with agriculture,' Minister Gurung said, 'Gharbas supports local businesses on the one hand and preserves art, culture and civilization here.'

Hem Bahadur Alle, president of the district's first Gharbas, run by Magar, said that this project has not only improved the economic status of the locals but also created employment opportunities. He informed that initially 10 houses were operating homestays, but now seeing the possibility of income generation, homestays are also being operated in two more houses.

Hem Bahadur shared his experience that home-based business is profitable as it is possible to earn two or four paise by farming in one's own village house. Another reason why tourists come to Magar Gharbas is the views of the snow range seen from here. Recently, Gharbas owners say that the snow of the mountains is decreasing and Kalapattha is no longer visible.

Hem Bahadur, president of Gharbas, said, 'This year, the snow is disappearing and only a little is visible on the tip.' Remembering that he could see snow up to the top in his childhood, he said that now he is worried that all those scenes will disappear.

According to Hem Bahadur, one can see the view of five mountains including Annapurna, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, Ganesh from Naruwal Gharbas. Now, due to the effect of climate change, thick mountains are melting and changing into black rock. Due to this, the challenge has been added to the Gharbash operator who has to face its direct impact,' he said.

Naruwal Magar Gharbas is built by local women. Gharbas owners Phulmaya Rana, Sunita Rana, Savina Rana, Parvati Rana, Meena Rana, Dilmaya Rana, Rammaya Ale, Sangeeta Ale and other women have been contributing to the promotion of tourism along with cultural preservation.

Phulmaya is ripe with age. She prefers to emphasize traditional customs and culture while entertaining guests in her home . She is very skilled in cooking the traditional Magar food made from millet, corn, rice, and these dishes. The guest who comes to Mina Rana's house usually eats local chicken and drumsticks.

According to Madan Bahadur Rana, Ward President of Benisahar Municipality-2, the organic food and art culture of the Magar community in the ward is the main attraction. There are some tourist spots in Lamjung. Here is the historical Pathibhara Temple. There is a traditional stone mound of stone. There are historical stone streams . The traditional Chiplete river made of one kilometer long Chiplete stones also attracts tourists, he said.

According to ward president Rana, the Beja custom of the Magar community, which is disappearing, is still preserved here. He also informed that the main attractions of the Magar community are Kuta, Jhamre dance and costumes.
