The District Administration Office Sunsari has imposed an indefinite curfew order in several additional areas of the district.
According to the order issued by the Chief District Officer, a curfew has been imposed from 9 PM tonight until further notice, in accordance with Section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028.
According to the administration, during the curfew period, no one will be allowed to move within the designated four boundaries, or to organize fairs, processions, demonstrations, assemblies, meetings, or encirclement activities.
The administration has stated that anyone violating the curfew order may be fined up to one thousand rupees, imprisoned for up to one month, or face both penalties.
The curfew order has been issued for the area from the eastern boundary of Inaruwa Municipality–3 and 6 (Ghopali Tole under the Mahendra Highway), to the bridge of Koshi Barrage in the west, and up to 200 meters north and south from the Mahendra Highway.
The District Administration Office has requested the general public to fully comply with the order, stating that the curfew order has been issued to maintain public peace, security, and order.
One person was killed in a clash between two groups in Captain Ganj, Dewanganj Rural Municipality-3 of Sunsari on Sunday night. In the incident, 24 people were injured, including 9 civilians, 10 Nepal Police personnel, and 5 Armed Police Force personnel.
To prevent further problems after the incident, the Sunsari District Administration Office has imposed an indefinite curfew in some areas of Dewanganj and Harinagar Rural Municipalities from 7 AM today.
