The rate of dengue infection in Jhapa has been declining recently. According to the District Health Office, the number of dengue patients has decreased compared to last year due to increased public awareness, active participation of local governments, and the effectiveness of the "Search and Destroy" campaign.
According to data from the Health Office, 2,000 people were found to be infected with dengue in the district in 2081/82, while in the last fiscal year this number dropped to just 601.
According to Brij Kumar Das, Chief of the Health Office, since Aedes mosquitoes that transmit dengue breed in clean and stagnant water, the "Search and Destroy Mosquito Habitats" campaign has been conducted every year in all 15 local governments of the district to control it.
He said that the campaign conducted in coordination with local governments, regular sanitation, and awareness programs have produced positive results in controlling the infection.
