In Sirpali Chowk, Damak Municipality–1, Jhapa, a dispute between a husband and wife escalated, resulting in the deaths of both. According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, a quarrel broke out at home on Wednesday around 2 p.m. between 42-year-old Dhan Bahadur Darji and his 42-year-old wife Vijaykumari Darji.
During the dispute, Dhan Bahadur attacked his wife with a khukuri, causing serious injuries to her head and left arm. After that, Dhan Bahadur hanged himself with a shawl from the ceiling fan inside the house. Their 25-year-old daughter, Priyanka Darji, saw her father hanging and cut the noose to bring him down to the floor.
As soon as they received information about the incident, a police team led by Inspector Pramod Khadka from the Area Police Office, Damak, reached the scene. Although both injured individuals were immediately taken to Damak Hospital, doctors declared them dead at 3:30 p.m. Police stated that after completing the legal procedures, the bodies have been kept at Damak Hospital for post-mortem.
