35 drug stores operating in the premises of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan have been sealed.
A joint monitoring team comprising representatives of the Area Administration Office, Area Police Office, Drug Management Department Biratnagar and the concerned ward offices has started monitoring the drug stores in the premises of the institute since the end of Ashad, informed Police Inspector Binalal Sah of the Area Police Office, Dharan. According to him, 35 drug stores were sealed after various legal weaknesses were found during the monitoring conducted till Monday.
According to Police Inspector Sah, action has been taken against shops that do not have the necessary legal documents, are operated in the name of another person, have no registered pharmacist, and have not renewed their business. After receiving information about the arrival of the monitoring team, action was taken against drug stores that have closed their shops and lost contact and have not cooperated in the monitoring. The operators of the sealed shops have been instructed to appear before the concerned body with the necessary documents. The administration has stated that further action will be taken as per the prevailing law after studying the documents.
