A 12-year-old girl has died after being swept away by a river while bathing in Bahrabise, Sabhapokhari Rural Municipality-6, Sankhuwasabha.

At around 2:50 pm on Tuesday, Janaki Limbu, the 12-year-old daughter of local Tul Bahadur Limbu, and Resu Limbu, the 10-year-old daughter of Khan Bahadur Limbu of the same place, had gone to bathe in the Sabhakhola, about 200 meters northwest of their home. Police said that they received information that Janaki had been swept away by the river.

DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali said that during the search after the incident, her body was found stuck in a rock on the west side of the under-construction Dibyashwari Hydropower Dam in Panchkhapan Municipality-1. As soon as the news was received, a police team led by Police Assistant Inspector Devnarayan Majhi from Police Post Bahrabise reached the spot and with the help of locals pulled her body out of the water.

Police said that 10-year-old Resu Limbu, who had gone to bathe with Janaki in the incident, was safe.
