Two people have died in separate floods. Shanta Rai, 43, of Diktel Rupakot, Majhuwagadhi Municipality-6, Nerpa Mamkha, was swept away by the flood in Chhange Khola, and Parshuram Pariyar, 71, of Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality-4, Baksila, was swept away by the flood in Khaikhure Khola.
According to Police Inspector Nirajan Basnet, Information Officer of the District Police Office, Khotang, Shanta Rai, who was walking from her home around 4 pm on Saturday, was found dead in Chhange Khola at night. Similarly, Parshuram Pariyar, who was swept away while crossing the Khaikhure Khola, was found dead at night. The police said that he was swept away by the Khola and dragged down about 100 meters.
Of the two, Shanta's body was handed over to her relatives after a postmortem at the District Hospital Diktel on Sunday, while Pariyar's body will be postmortem only on Monday, according to police.
