The District Administration Office, Dhankuta, has banned night-time vehicle operations on various roads.

The administration has banned night-time vehicle operations from 7 pm on Saturday to 5 am on Sunday. The decision was taken citing the high risk of floods, landslides, erosion, mudflow and inundation, informed Pushpalal Dhamala, Administrative Officer of the District Administration Office.

In this regard, all vehicles going from Bhedetar to Rabi-Rank road section, Mulghat to Panchthar border in Tamor Corridor and from Bhedetar to Tehrathum, Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur and Panchthar have been completely banned from operating during that time.

During that period, the general public has been requested through information not to travel far from home and at night unless necessary. The administration has also warned residents of rivulets, settlements near kharekas, landslide-prone areas and riverbanks to adopt high alert.

As a form of disaster preparedness, all three security agencies in the district, local levels, as well as volunteers and all stakeholders have been asked to be on standby for response.

Similarly, it has been said that individuals and families living in risky areas will be shifted to safer places before disaster response. According to the weather bulletin of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and the information of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Technicalization, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in various areas across the country, including Dhankuta, on July 2 and 3. It has been raining in Dhankuta since Saturday evening. Vehicles plying from Bhedetar to Dhankuta will remain operational.
