Cash and other belongings were destroyed in a fire at the Tamor Hotel cottage in Bhulke, Kummayak Rural Municipality-5, Panchthar.
A fire broke out on Friday evening due to a gas leak, destroying two cottages and other belongings.
According to Anish Kumar Karna, Chief of the District Police Office, Panchthar, the fire broke out at around 5:30 pm while cooking meat in the hotel kitchen.
The fire was brought under control at 7 pm with the joint efforts of locals and police, according to the police.
The fire destroyed about Rs 32,000 in cash belonging to Badal Bhandari, 25, a resident of Tumbewa Rural Municipality-3, the hotel operator. In addition, two cottages made of straw and bamboo, two iPhones, four Itel company mobile phones, two gas cylinders, two refrigerators, seven tables, 25 plastic chairs, food, utensils and beverages were also destroyed in the fire.
Police have informed that a detailed description of the damage and an economic assessment are underway.
