Dilliraj Khadka, an engineer working in Chulachuli Rural Municipality of Ilam, has been arrested on charges of taking a bribe of Rs 600,000.
A joint team deployed from the Central Office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority in Tangal and the Itahari Office arrested Khadka on Tuesday from a restaurant in Damak Municipality-1, Jhapa, after he had already taken a bribe of Rs 600,000 from a service recipient. Khadka is accused of demanding a bribe from a service recipient on the pretext of getting the redesign of the bridge approved and facilitating the payment process for the construction contract.
The commission is conducting further investigation into Khadka, according to a statement issued by spokesperson Suresh Neupane.
