An escaped prisoner who was sentenced to 23 years in prison and a fine of Rs. 750,000 in a rape case has been arrested from Udayapur.

The District Police Office, Udayapur, deployed police from the temporary police post Chuhade on Friday morning and arrested the 26-year-old prisoner. According to the police, the prisoner had escaped from the Nakkhu Jail in Lalitpur during the Genji movement on Bhadra 24.

The Lalitpur District Court had sentenced him to 23 years in prison and a fine of Rs. 750,000 in a rape case. The arrested escaped prisoner has been handed over to the District Prison Office, Udayapur, according to the police.
