An accused in Panchthar Jail for remand on charges of son murder has died during treatment.

Bakhat Bahadur Singhak, 52, a resident of Durdimba, Miklajung Rural Municipality-8, Panchthar, died at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.

He fell ill about two weeks ago and was referred to the Panchthar District Hospital for treatment after his condition worsened. The doctors declared him dead as soon as he reached the hospital on Saturday, informed Anish Kumar Karna, Chief of the District Police Office, Panchthar. According to him, although he was said to have heart and blood problems, the real cause will be known only after the postmortem report. The body has been handed over to the relatives for burial after an autopsy.

Bakhat Bahadur was arrested last October on charges of shooting and killing his 19-year-old son Safal Singhak. After the incident, the police registered a case of manslaughter against him and started an investigation. He was sent to jail for remand on a court order.
