Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality has allocated a budget for monkey monitoring. The 15th municipal assembly held on Tuesday allocated a budget for monitoring, considering monkeys as 'agricultural hazards'.
Deputy Mayor Bishan Rai said that a budget of Rs. 4.5 million has been presented for this. Similarly, a policy proposal has been submitted to arrange a budget for senior journalist pensions. Rai said that the budget for some titles will be passed on the upcoming 16th Ashar.
‘A budget of Rs 4.5 million has been allocated for monkey watching,’ Rai said, ‘A policy proposal has been submitted for senior journalist pension, now the budget will be passed on the day (coming 16 Ashad) itself to decide how much budget will be allocated.’
Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality has presented a policy and program in the municipal assembly, keeping biodiversity conservation as the main priority. According to the policy and program presented by Mayor Tirtha Raj Bhattarai, climate-friendly road construction, healthy soil and agricultural production, tourism promotion, and industrial development have been prioritized.
Bhattarai said that since road construction will affect biodiversity, an environment-friendly plan including planting trees has been presented in a way that does not affect it. According to him, a subsidy has also been arranged for planting trees on vacant and sloping lands.
‘The policy and program have been formulated by envisioning biodiversity-friendly roads, agriculture, tourism, and industry,’ Bhattarai said, ‘If the earth survives, we will survive, otherwise no one will survive. That is why the policy and program have been formulated with biodiversity as a priority.’
A policy has been presented to achieve prosperity through climate-friendly agricultural production, promote biodiversity-rich tourism, and develop environment-friendly industries. Issues such as banning the use and sale of plastic bags within the urban area and managing glass bottles have also been included in the policy and program.
Bhattarai said that the policy and program have been presented to implement the 35-point declaration issued at the First National Bamboo Conference held in Diktel from 15 to 17 Falgun 2081 and the 7-point declaration issued at the International Conference on Biodiversity, Red Panda, and Thar held from 4 to 6 Baisakh.
The declaration was prepared by a conference attended by experts related to biodiversity from 7 different countries, including Nepal. In addition, a policy for providing pension to senior journalists has also been presented in the municipal assembly. However, the budget for this will be passed on the 16th, said Bishan Rai, Deputy Chief of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality.
In addition, a budget of Rs. 997.364 million 13.70 paisa has been presented for the upcoming 2083/84 for roads, bridges and other physical infrastructure programs.
Similarly, Sakela Rural Municipality has decided to provide Rs. 5,000 as an incentive to those who migrate. The rural municipality has made a total budget of Rs. 425.765 million public. Presenting the policy and program of the 16th Village Assembly held on 10 Ashar, a budget of Rs. 264.84 million for current and Rs. 165.281 million for capital for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 has been approved. The rural municipality has allocated a budget of 300,000 for senior journalist pensions.
