Rong Rural Municipality of Ilam is going to run a 'Bright Future Allowance' program for orphaned students.
The rural municipality has announced that it will provide a monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 to orphaned students through its annual policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year.
There are currently 21 orphaned students in the rural municipality. The rural municipality has already been taking responsibility for their education, health insurance, and other management.
According to the rural municipality, a total of Rs 30,000 has been deposited in a lump sum bank account in the name of each orphaned student, consisting of Rs 10,000 from the rural municipality and Rs 20,000 from Siddhi Hydropower. The amount can be withdrawn only for higher education or on the recommendation of the rural municipality.
Similarly, demat accounts have been opened for all orphaned students and investment in primary shares (IPO) has also been started under the management of the rural municipality, said the rural municipality chairman, Manikumar Syangbo.
He expressed confidence that the rural municipality's Ujjalo Bhavishya Allowance program will help secure the educational and financial future of orphaned students.
