Journalist-related organizations have objected to the threat of physical attack on journalists. The Federation of Nepali Journalists Dhankuta branch, the Federation of Nepali Journalists Koshi Province Committee, the Federation of Nepali Journalists Central Committee and the Dalit Journalists Association have also protested against the incident, saying that Parashuram Karki of Androng, Mahalaxmi Municipality-7, Dhankuta, abused, threatened and created mental pressure on Gopal Baraili, the president of the Dalit Journalists Association and the operator and station manager of Radio Dhankuta, through social media. The Federation has also demanded action against the culprits.

Demanding to bring the culprits to justice, the Federation has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident. Bidur Khawas, president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Dhankuta, said that the incident should be investigated and action should be taken against the culprits.

Baraili had published news on Dhankuta FM.com on Ashad 20 about the investigation of Siddharth Thapa, grandson of former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa and son of Congress leader and National Assembly member Sunil Bahadur Thapa, by the CIAA in connection with the passport printing case. Baraili, who is also a former central member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, is the central president of the Dalit Journalists Association.

Baraili said that Karki had threatened Baraili on Messenger by insulting him in racial terms and telling him to take care of his family and life. The federation has stated that Karki had insulted and threatened journalist Baraili through social media, including his family, regarding the news.

'It is not appropriate to create insults, threats and mental pressure through social media, even though there is a provision to seek a solution through legal and institutional processes in case of any complaint or disagreement regarding the news,' said a statement issued by Hari Bahadur Lamjel, secretary of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Dhankuta. ‘The Federation believes that such activities discourage independent, impartial and responsible journalism.’

‘The Federation of Nepal Journalists, Dhankuta branch condemns such unethical and condemnable activities carried out through social media and draws attention to the necessary initiatives and action by the concerned bodies by conducting a necessary investigation into the incident,’ the statement said.

General Secretary of the Federation of Nepal Journalists’ Central Committee, Ram Prasad Dahal, has also issued a statement demanding a fair investigation into the incident and action against the culprits. General Secretary Dahal has mentioned in the statement that it is not appropriate to threaten journalists and their families without using the legal option to report the news that is not satisfactory.

Similarly, the Community Radio Broadcasters Association, Nepal has also condemned the incident and demanded the concerned bodies to investigate and take necessary action against the culprits.

Similarly, Press Center Nepal, Socialist Press Organization Nepal and Federal Press Union (Unity Supporters) have also issued a joint statement urging the government to ensure the physical safety of journalist Baraili.

Journalist Gopal Baraili informed that he has informed the police about the incident that happened to him.
