The district-level Taekwondo Championship competition organized by the Nepal Taekwondo Association District Working Committee Panchthar has started in Phidim.

110 players of various weight groups, both men and women, are competing in the competition that started at the Badminton Covered Hall in Phidim.

According to the organizers, 55 players are competing in 10 weight groups for men and 55 players in 10 weight groups for women. Similarly, 10 players are participating in men's poomsae and 10 players in women's poomsae, said the organizing District Taekwondo Association President Santosh Shrestha.

Competition is being held in two categories of sparring and poomsae. Where 96 players will receive medals in sparring and 16 players in poomsae. The organizers have stated that cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of various categories in the competition. There is also a program to honor the best players and coaches.

The organizers believe that the competition will increase the attraction towards taekwondo in the district and help produce players at the provincial and national level. The competition, which is the main promotion of Phidim Municipality, will be held on Asad 7.
