An uncle and niece died in a road accident in Tulsibari, Kankai Municipality-5, Jhapa on Friday afternoon.
According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, the accident occurred when a motorcycle (Me 4 Pa 585) heading from Surunga to Jhapa Bazaar and a tractor (Me 1 Ta 7404) plowing a field and coming out onto the road collided.
The motorcycle driver, 20-year-old Samir Ali of Jhapa Rural Municipality-3, his 5-year-old niece Hazira Khatun, and Samir's 45-year-old mother Nuresh Sadevi were injured in the accident. All three were immediately taken to Kankai Hospital, Surunga for treatment.
Doctors declared Samir and Hazira dead upon reaching the hospital. The seriously injured Nuresh Sadevi has been admitted to B&C Hospital for further treatment.
The police have taken into custody the motorcycle, tractor and tractor driver, 46-year-old Chakra Bahadur Tamang of Kankai Municipality-5, involved in the accident, and are investigating the incident. The body of the deceased has been sent to Mechi Provincial Hospital for postmortem.
