Aathrai Triveni Rural Municipality has honored 11 couples who married between Dalits and non-Dalits.
Those honored with cash are Kavita Bayalkoti and Mausam Limbu of Ward 1, Hom Bahadur Darnal and Sirjana Rai of Ward 2, Ramesh Ghimire and Sarita Nalbo, Suman Baraili and Sangita Limbu, and Hem Kumar Thapa and Asmita Darnal of Ward 3.
Similarly, Sabin Bardeva and Sangita Shrestha of Ward 4, Bir Kumar Karki Doli and Sirjana Tamang, Dhannath Nepali and Sangi Sherpa of Ward 5, Aita Bir and Asmita Baraili, Krishna BK and Kamala Limbu, and Sal Bahadur Nepali and Gangadevi Sherpa of Ward 5.
Dalit leader Ganesh Karki Doli informed that the honor was given under the Dalit awareness program run by the rural municipality in line with the objective of ending caste discrimination. Village Municipality Chairman Dipendra Pomu, Vice Chairman Shanta Kumari Angbuhang and others were present at the felicitation program. Pomu informed that the municipality will also come up with other creative programs for social transformation and ending caste discrimination.
