The court has sentenced 15 people, including seven policemen, to life imprisonment in the murder case after a gang-rape of two prisoners inside the Khandbari District Jail.
The Sankhuwasabha District Court has convicted the security personnel and prisoners involved in the incident and sentenced them to life imprisonment. According to District Court Judge Ujwal Neupane, the court sentenced the two prisoners after it was confirmed that the two prisoners died due to the inhuman beating inside the prison.
On July 24, 2080, Binod Tolangi, 20, of Madi Municipality-5, Sankhuwasabha, and Akash Balami, 28, of Kakani Rural Municipality-7, Nuwakot, were arrested on charges of trying to escape by cutting the window rod of the prison toilet.
During the investigation, they were initially beaten up by security personnel and then attacked by a group of prisoners, resulting in serious injuries, resulting in the death of both of them. Demands for an impartial investigation were raised after the involvement of the police, who were responsible for security inside the prison, was seen.
