Traffic on the Mid-Hill Highway has been disrupted after a flood washed away the road at Pangkhukhola, also known as Lapsekhola, in Buwalung, Diktel Rupakot, Majhuwagadhi Municipality-8, on Wednesday night.
A landslide with mud that fell from above the road has washed away about 50 meters of the road. Local teacher Dilip Rodung said that it is not possible to cross the road at this time. He said that it will take time to reopen the road. "Even a breaker is not possible to open the cliff with rocks, if you fill it with gabion mesh and remove it from below, the road can be built, but it will take time," Rodung said.
After the road was blocked, people traveling on the Mid-Hill Highway have been stranded. Police have said that technical teams from the Mid-Hill Highway and Road Department have been deployed to reopen the road. Local Krishna Bahadur Budhathoki said that Dobela and Nirmalidanda police are inspecting the landslide from all sides.
On 22 Jestha, the road in that area was also washed away by floods. The road was reopened the day after it was washed away. The road has been blocked after the bridge under construction at that location fell into disrepair.
