The Kirati cultural Chula Ghar under construction in the historic Majhuwagadhi of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality has come into controversy . It has come into controversy because it is not in accordance with Kirati culture .

The construction of the Chula Ghar, which was started at a cost of about 1 million rupees among the various structures under construction by the provincial government under the title of beautification of Majhuwaga Kalika Bhagwati Temple at a cost of about 7.95 million rupees, has also been stopped after the construction work came into controversy .

The stakeholders have jointly submitted a letter of attention to the municipality on Monday, demanding that it be demolished and rebuilt as it is not in accordance with Kirati culture . The Majhuwagadhi Conservation and Tourism Promotion Committee, Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Federation Khotang, Kirat Rai Yayokka Khotang and Lafehachha Sewa Samaj have submitted the letter of attention .

The problem arose because the construction was started without coordinating with the stakeholders, said Bobby Chamling, chairman of the Majhuwagadhi Conservation and Tourism Promotion Committee. ‘A letter of attention has been submitted demanding that the Chula Ghar according to Kirati culture be demolished and rebuilt,’ Chamling said.

The problem arose because the construction should have been done after consulting with stakeholders, but it did not happen, and it should be rebuilt, said Phurba Sherpa, chairman of the Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Federation, Khotang. ‘We should have worked with the relevant stakeholders on issues related to the cultural aspect, but when that did not happen, a dispute arose,’ said Sherpa, ‘The municipality should reconstruct it.’

The contract for the project was taken by Sudevi Construction Suppliers and Pvt. Ltd. An agreement was signed on February 28 to complete the construction of the kitchen, public toilets, RCC retaining wall in front of the Kalika Bhagwati Temple, and park by July 2083. Subash Tilung, who was involved in the construction, said that the work was done as per the design estimate prepared by the municipality. Bishan Rai, Deputy Chief of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, said that an initiative has been taken to immediately resolve the dispute.
