The windstorm, rain and lightning caused extensive damage in various places in Jhapa on Friday night. The District Police Office, Jhapa, has reported that houses, poultry farms, industries, electrical infrastructure and vehicles have been damaged worth lakhs of rupees.

Parshuram Dahal's poultry farm in Dandagaun, Gauradaha Municipality-7 of the district has been completely destroyed. 25 broiler chickens have died when the windstorm damaged the farm made of concrete pillars, tin roofs, wooden ply and wire mesh. The damage from the incident is estimated to be around Rs 200,000.

In Haldibari Rural Municipality-2, the windstorm blew off the roofs of three families. The house with a thatched roof was completely damaged, causing a loss of Rs 20,000. The tin roof of the one-and-a-half-storey concrete house of Phulkumari Kerung caused damage worth Rs 50,000, while the roof of Sudla Rajbanshi's house was blown off, causing a loss of Rs 20,000, according to the police.

The roof of the three-room house of Shyamlal Besra of Sagarmatha Tole, Gauradaha Municipality-6 has been blown off, causing damage worth Rs 70,000. The roof of Hukum Singh Rai's house in Nirmala Chowk of the same ward has been blown off, causing damage worth Rs 60,000. The roof of the kitchen of Man Bahadur Parajuli of Aartinagar has been blown off, soaking 20 maunds of paddy and 20 maunds of maize kept inside, causing damage worth Rs 80,000.

Two houses of Indramani Prasai of Bairati Tole, Gauradaha Municipality-8 have caught fire due to lightning strikes along with the wind. The lightning struck seven ceiling fans, 12 bulbs, a refrigerator, a 63-inch television, a solar panel, an electricity meter, wires and documents inside the house, causing damage worth Rs 136,500, according to the police.

The wind has also damaged the building of Garima Brickworks run by Gunaraj Thapa in Damak Municipality-10. The police have stated that the roof of the building made of brick, iron trusses and tin roof has been uprooted and turned upside down.

The road has been blocked in the Birtamod area after the wind toppled electricity poles. Electricity poles fell in Birtamod-3 Birat Adarsh ​​Tole and Ward No. 8 Triveni Chowk. Five electricity poles also fell in Ward No. 6 Syaldangi and Staff Chowk. Due to the fall of the poles, electricity supply has not yet been restored in various places in Jhapa. 

Rohit Khadka's house in Khukuri Chowk in Birtamod-3 has been partially damaged by a falling peepal tree, while in Paropkar Tole in Birtamod-4, locals cut down the tree and opened the road.

The tin roof of the house of Prithvi Lal Rajbanshi of Magugaun, Barhadashi Rural Municipality-5, has been blown away by the wind, causing damage worth about Rs 150,000.

The zinc roof of the warehouse and mess of Jai Maa Kamaksha Industries Pvt. Ltd. run by Kishor Chhetri in Gainabari, Mechinagar Municipality-15, has been blown away, causing damage worth about Rs 300,000.

Locals and security personnel are continuing to remove fallen poles and trees at various places and to restore roads after the storm.
