The restrictions imposed to control bird flu have been lifted in Ilam. The ban on the transportation of poultry products has been lifted as the risk has been reduced.
The meeting of the District Bird Flu Control Committee, Ilam, has decided to lift the ban imposed earlier, informed Dr. Raghavendra Tiwari, Chief of the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center, Ilam.
The center issued a public notice on Thursday, stating that the ban imposed in the district was lifted following the decision of the meeting held on April 29 at the Animal Service Department, Harihar Bhavan, Lalitpur. Earlier, the District Bird Flu Control Committee meeting on April 9 had banned the transportation of poultry and poultry products.
Even though the committee has lifted the ban, it has urged people to adopt high vigilance to completely control the bird flu disease. The committee has urged not to transport poultry and poultry products from infected areas, and to obtain a mandatory veterinary certificate when transporting them from other areas.
The committee has urged to prohibit the entry of unnecessary people and vehicles into poultry farms, to disinfect the farms before entering, to use footbaths, and to strictly follow biosecurity standards within the farms.
Similarly, the committee has also requested to manage dead poultry safely, to adopt personal protection for farm workers, and to immediately inform the nearest animal service office or veterinary hospital in case of a large number of sick or dead poultry.
