On the occasion of National Journalism Day, the Koshi Province government on Thursday honored eight journalists from the province.

Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki honored the journalists with Rs 100,000 each at a program organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of the Koshi Province government. 

The journalists to be honored this year are journalist duo Siddharaj Rai and Santosh Ruchal from Dhankuta, Bivek Gautam, Shekhar Regmi and Shyamsundar Sutihar from Biratnagar, Rejina Gautam from Jhapa, Manoj Shrestha from Solu and Gopal Dahal from Sunsari.

Chief Minister Karki has claimed that he will not do anything to curb the media. Stating that there should be no discrimination between private and government media, he opined that such behavior would be against the constitution and the law.
