The impact of the controversy is starting to be seen directly on the students. Parents have started transferring their children from this school to private schools. ”We were forced to choose a private school due to the fear of quality deterioration,” said parent Leela Shrestha.

Balmandir Secondary School, Bokse, considered the best in the district, is now at the center of political controversy. The conflict between the municipality's decision, the court's order, and the school's stance has thrown the future of the students into uncertainty.
Balmandir Secondary School located in Triyuga Municipality-10 of Udayapur has recently been embroiled in controversy due to the intervention of the mayor, the transfer of teachers, and the removal of the principal. Mayor Basanta Basnet is accused of transferring teachers in the name of matching posts with the aim of making his relative the principal. The controversy flared up after the school's principal, Jang Bahadur Khadka, was removed from his post.
This school, which stood first in the district twice in the SEE exams of 2075 and 2081 BS, started teaching in English medium, and was awarded as the best school in Koshi Province, had increased the number of students from 600 to 1,100. However, the parents allege that the administrative interference of the municipality has disturbed the school environment.
The root of the dispute seems to have started with the teacher recruitment process on Chaitra 29, 2081. When the municipality transferred 81 teachers, Bidur Khadka, a relative of the mayor, was posted at Bal Mandir Secondary School. After 12 teachers approached the High Court against this, the court issued an interim order on Baisakh 15, 2082 not to implement the decision. However, the school side claims that the municipality pressured the transferred teachers to attend even while the case was pending.
The dispute further escalated when Principal Khadka refused to attend, citing the court order. The municipality then demanded an investigation, a clean chit and finally decided to remove him from his post in Chaitra 2082. The school side has called this move by the municipality vindictive and illegal, while the municipality has claimed that the action was legal.
Parents and students have been protesting since then. They have been organizing programs such as gheraoing the municipality and submitting memorandums. They say that the educational environment is deteriorating due to the dispute between the municipality and the school. They say that the enthusiasm of teachers has decreased, teaching has been affected and the future of the school has become uncertain.
The impact of the dispute is starting to be directly seen in the students. Parents have started transferring their children from this school to private schools. 'We were forced to choose a private school due to fear of deterioration in quality,' said parent Leela Shrestha.
Mayor Basnet, on the other hand, says that all decisions were made in accordance with the law and procedures. He argues that the local government has the right to manage education up to the secondary level and that the posts were allocated accordingly. He claims that action was taken as per the report of the investigation committee formed by the municipality because the school did not accept the municipality's decision and a complaint was filed with the authority.
Principal Khadka is still working, claiming that he is still in charge, while the transferred teachers have not even received their salaries. Due to the dispute, the school management committee has not been able to achieve perfection, and the municipality has even frozen the school's bank account. There is no sign of this dispute being resolved as long as the case is pending in court. However, its direct impact is being felt on students and the quality of education.
