The unveiling of the 110-foot-tall Yalambar statue built in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-14 Buipa has been postponed.

The District Administration Office Khotang postponed it saying it could not provide peace and security. Chief District Officer Rekha Kandel said that the program had to be postponed because the municipality and Buipa ward offices had scheduled the unveiling of the statue by different people on separate dates and that it could not provide peace and security due to a dispute.

Buipa ward chair Dinesh Rai had informed this at a press conference on Baisakh 9 that the statue would be unveiled by Shram Sanskriti Party chair Hark Sampang on Baisakh 18 under the organization of the ward office. The controversy began three days later on April 12 when the municipality also informed Koshi Province Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Bhim Parajuli and Kirat Rai Yayokka Central Chairman Jeevan Hatachho that the inauguration would be held jointly on April 17.

After the controversy, a discussion was held on April 13 under the coordination of Chief District Officer Kandel. At that time, the organizer of the statue unveiling program, the municipality, and the Mundum scholars, senior citizens, and the sculptor's dreamers or the chief guests of the statue had agreed to hold the program, but after it was not implemented, the municipality had been insisting on unveiling it on the 17th and the ward on the 18th.

On Wednesday morning, an all-party meeting, including the Chief District Officer and heads of security agencies in the district, chaired by Suresh Tamang, Deputy Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Khotang, decided to postpone the unveiling program organized by the municipality and the ward on both days. After that, the decision of the all-party, all-party meeting was approved by the municipal executive meeting and requested the District Administration Office, Khotang. Based on that, the meeting of the Peace and Security Committee decided to postpone the unveiling program, said Chief District Officer Kandel. 'Even after trying to resolve the dispute, it could not be resolved. In such a situation, peace and security could not be provided, so it was postponed,' said Kandel.

The statue was built with a budget of 114.923 million, 154 rupees, with 70 percent of the cost from the Koshi province and 30 percent from the municipality. Uma Tuwachung Ansuli JV had signed an agreement on 28 Ashad 2078 for 115.816 million rupees to be completed within 18 months. But due to the design, the work was not completed on time, and the deadline was extended repeatedly. The municipality has stated that the payment was made after the work was completed last year.

Although the Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, had planned to inaugurate the project on 18th Jestha, the identity supporters obstructed it.
