A signature campaign has been launched demanding transparency in the situation, opacity and construction process at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.

A petition demanding transparency was submitted by local Prajwal Shrestha, who said that there are increasing cases of weaknesses in the management of the institute, delays in service delivery and opacity. The signature campaign was launched in Bhanuchowk, Dharan-2, on Tuesday.

Prajwal Shrestha said that according to Article 25 of the Constitution of Nepal and Sections 3 and 7 of the Right to Information Act, 2064, the concerned body should provide certified copies of necessary information and data.

The issue of illegal contracting procedures in the construction of the Maternal and Child Health Building has been raised in public, and he said that this has raised serious concerns and suspicions among the general public, so he has taken the initiative to make the actual details public in a clear and transparent manner.

All information related to the construction, maintenance and infrastructure development of the hospital building, a clear statement on whether the contract process adopted in the construction of the building is legal, the hospital's waste management, collection, processing and disposal process, vehicle use, fuel consumption and maintenance management, tender costs and suppliers related to the procurement process of medicines, equipment and other materials have been demanded to be made public.

Shrestha said that if the transparency of the institution is ensured, the trust of the service recipients will increase and the service delivery of the hospital will improve, so the signature campaign against the situation will continue until the concerned body provides information on this issue. According to him, more than two thousand people have signed this campaign so far, expressing solidarity.
