For the first time, the work of constructing a systematic and modern sewage management system in the district headquarters of Khandbari has progressed rapidly.

Khandbari Municipality of Sankhuwasabha has signed a contract worth Rs 182.3 million to construct a sewage treatment plant on an area of ​​about 75 ropanis, targeting the cleanliness and sustainable urban management of the city. This project is expected to bring about a major change in the health, environment and standard of living of the city.

'The construction work of the necessary infrastructure for the sewage treatment plant being built in Sukechaur, Municipality-9 has already begun. Under this project, an eight-kilometer-long pipeline will be laid, and the wastewater from the houses of the city will be collected and transported to the treatment center,' said Mahesh Thapaliya, Mayor of Khandbari Municipality. According to him, the pipeline will start from the area of ​​the District Coordination Committee and reach the treatment plant through various settlements.

According to him, more than 340 manholes (manholes) will be constructed to make the sewage management system systematic, which are planned to be placed at a distance of every 25 meters. This will facilitate the maintenance and operation of the pipeline. The pipes will be buried at a depth of about one and a half meters, which will ensure safe and effective sewage management in the long term.

14 tanks will be constructed for the treatment plant, and the wastewater from the houses will be processed in various stages. There is a plan to safely discharge the water after processing without any impact on the environment. This will also reduce the risk of pollution of rivers, streams and groundwater.

The sewage construction work is being done by MMC RS S JV Company. The Federal Water Supply and Sewerage Management Office, Dhankuta has called for a contract and initiated the project. According to construction entrepreneur Milan Gautam, about 30 percent of the work has been completed so far. According to him, the construction work is being carried out with the aim of completing the work in a quality manner within the stipulated time frame.

The construction agreement was signed in Asad 2082, and the target is to complete the work by mid-Asad 2084. In the initial phase of construction, priority has been given to the construction of the tank. After that, pipe laying work will begin in the market area.

According to Khandbari Municipality Mayor Thapaliya, about 800 households in the city will directly benefit after the completion of this project. He said, 'This is not just sewage management, but a big step towards the sustainable development of Khandbari. It will help make the city clean, healthy and organized.'

Local residents have also responded positively to this project. According to local Divyaraj Shrestha, after the construction of the sewer, it is necessary to make the cleaning and sanitation work more effective. He said, 'Just building a sewer is not enough, its proper management and regular cleaning are also equally important. The municipality should pay attention to this.'
