The inauguration program of the statue of Yalambar, scheduled for Baisakh 18 by the Chairman of the Labor Culture Party and member of the House of Representatives, Harkaraj Rai (Sampang), has been in controversy.

The ward office had prepared to inaugurate the 110-foot-tall statue of Yalambar, built on the Pancharbato road in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-14 Buipa, on the occasion of Ubhauli, but the controversy has arisen due to the lack of consent from the municipality.

Ward Chairman Dinesh Rai held a press conference on Wednesday and informed that the inauguration would be held in the presence of Sampang and members of the House of Representatives, Aren Rai, singer Rajesh Payal Rai, hero Dayahang Rai, artist Yalisa Rai, and others.

However, Deputy Mayor Bishan Rai said that the statue was planned to be inaugurated on Thursday by the municipality itself. Deputy Chief Rai and other ward chairmen said that since the construction was done under the budget of the province and the municipality, the municipality would take ownership and inaugurate it under the project of the municipality itself. Deputy Chief Rai said that a decision will be made in the executive meeting on Friday. Ward Chair Rai, on the other hand, had said that since it was his ward's plan, the ward itself would be the organizer. The statue was built at a cost of 114.923 million rupees, 70 percent from the Koshi provincial government and 30 percent from the local level. Uma Tuwachung Ansuli JV had signed an agreement on 28 Asad 2078 for 115.816 million rupees to be completed within 18 months. However, due to the design, the work could not be completed on time, and the deadline was repeatedly extended. Mohan Kumar Bhattarai, Information Officer of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, said that the project was completed last year and payment had already been made.

Although a plan was made to inaugurate the project on May 18 by Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki after the construction was completed, the identity supporters obstructed it. The inauguration was stopped after Kirant Rai Yayokka wrote to Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, saying that the inauguration should not be held by 82 Koshi Province MPs who signed in favor of the Koshi Province nomination and 85 people including the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Mahesh Basnet and Yogesh Bhattarai who stood against the identity supporters.
