Two people have died in a massive fire that broke out in Beltar, Chaudandigadhi Municipality-7, Udayapur. Locals Laxmi Narayan Khadka, 70, and Pawan Khadka, 30, died in the fire that started at 2:45 pm on Tuesday. Police said that the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the house of Laxmi Narayan at Shantichowk in Beltar, and the house of Laxmi, along with Rabin Kumar Das and Sakaldev, was completely destroyed.
The fire broke out while they were sleeping at home, said SP Rajan Chapagain, Chief of the District Police Office, Udayapur. According to him, Asmita Khadka, who was injured in the fire, is undergoing treatment at the Municipal Hospital, Beltar.
The fire was brought under control on Tuesday morning with the joint efforts of the fire brigade of Triyuga Municipality and Chaudandigadhi Municipality, locals and the police. Police said that other details of the damage are yet to be received.
