A complete ban on the import of poultry products has been imposed in Taplejung due to the increasing bird flu infection in Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the District Bird Flu Control Committee on Friday. The meeting, chaired by the coordinator of the committee and Chief District Officer Shivraj Sedhai, decided to conduct special monitoring at the check points where birds and poultry products enter Taplejung to prevent the uncontrolled spread of bird flu in Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari and to destroy them if found.
Stakeholders have been instructed not to bring poultry products from these three districts until further notice. Roshan Dahal, Chief of the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Services Office, informed that it has been decided to monitor all poultry commercial shops, meat shops, and farms in the district. The meeting was attended by Agrovet operators and others.
