The Biodiversity Red Panda and Thar International Conference has begun in Diktel on Friday. 

The conference has been organized by the main organization of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality and the Ministry of Tourism, Forest and Environment, Koshi Province, National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Department, Kathmandu, Forest and Soil Conservation Department, Kathmandu, National Nature Conservation Trust, Kathmandu, and Tribhuvan University. The conference was inaugurated by Koshi Province Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Bhim Parajuli. Before the inauguration, a morning procession was taken out in Diktel Bazaar. 

The conference, which will run until April 6, is organized with the aim of protecting the endangered red panda and Thar, conserving biodiversity, mitigating climate change, promoting environmental awareness, and promoting indigenous skills and culture, said Tirtharaj Bhattarai, the mayor of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality. In addition, 30 different working papers will be presented by national and international researchers, said Prof. Dr. Rajesh Rai of Tribhuvan University.

Discussions will be held between experts and locals on the relationship between humans and wildlife, discussions will be held with public representatives from all three levels (federal, provincial and local) on how to link wildlife conservation and ecotourism, and experiences will be exchanged among those involved in red panda conservation (from Langtang in Rasuwa to Taplejung), Rai said. According to him, a declaration will be issued on the last day, Baisakh 6.

The exhibition is attended by 150 people affiliated with more than 2 dozen national-level organizations related to science and technology, including Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Kathmandu University, Nepal Sanskrit University, Space Institute Nepal, Biotechnology Society of Nepal, and more than 2 dozen national-level organizations related to science and technology, said Tej Prakash Jaisi, Chief of Agriculture Branch of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality. 

On the occasion of the conference, a scientific exploration and science-mathematics exhibition has also started from Thursday. In addition, literary and cultural programs, exhibitions of indigenous skills and natural materials are being held.
