Locals have raised questions and protested over the quality of the road under construction in Babiya Yadav Tole, Inaruwa Municipality-9, Sunsari.

Locals have drawn the attention of the concerned bodies, alleging that substandard work is being done in the construction work. According to locals, the work has been done without preparing a proper base by plowing the old blacktop during the road construction. Local resident and engineer Shankar Yadav alleged that the road was built without laying the soil and using a substandard base, saying that such work is not sustainable in the long term.

According to him, the state budget is being unnecessarily spent by blacktopping, demolishing and rebuilding the same road twice a year. Locals have objected to the poor quality of the road construction from the former Babiya Friday Haat to Babiya Cooperative through Satairjhora.

They have demanded transparency and work according to standards in the construction work. The Federal Urban Development and Building Construction Office, Biratnagar, of the Ministry of Urban Development of the federal government, has signed a contract agreement for the construction of the road at a cost of Rs 21.1275 thousand 687 50 paisa (excluding VAT).

The contract has been awarded to Prachabi Builders Barahashtre Construction Service JV. Prakash Mehta, a representative of the contractor company, claims that they are doing quality work. According to him, the work on the road from Inaruwa-9 Friday to Yadav Tole has been completed up to the base. He informed that the project, which was signed on Magh 10, is targeted to be completed by Jestha 11, 2083.
