On the occasion of the New Year, the fourth Kopche festival is being held from Monday at Thuthiwar in Dhankuta-5. The organizers have stated that the festival will be held for the next three days. The organizers have stated that the festival is being held to attract domestic and foreign tourists to the Lower Kopche and Upper Kopche areas of Dhankuta Bazaar and Municipality-5 and to increase the buzz. The Kopche festival has been organized since 2080 on the occasion of the New Year. Ujwal Karmacharya, secretary of the organizer Kopche Rejuvenation Campaign, informed that the festival was started to preserve and promote original games, food, culture, costumes, and lifestyle. There are 20 stalls with original food dishes of the local Newari and Aathpahariya communities. On the occasion, it is said that cultural dances and songs of Newari and Aathpahari tribes will be presented, as well as Nepal's original Bagchal game, Duna Tapari weaving competition, and other entertaining games will be played.
