Amid the growing challenges of climate change, the youth have presented their thoughts, concerns and solutions. The fourth climate conference organized in Biratnagar on Sunday became an effective place for students to deeply reflect on the environment and climate crisis.

The conference organized by Shikshadeep College in Biratnagar was inaugurated by Bhim Parajuli, Minister for Tourism, Forest and Environment of Koshi Province, by watering a plant.

Nine groups of grade 11 participating in the conference made presentations focusing on various dimensions of climate change - environmental crisis, loss of biodiversity, sustainable development measures, and solutions that can be adopted at the local level. The students' presentations showed a combination of facts, research and innovative thinking, which made the climate debate feel stronger.

Minister Parajuli, noting that Nepal is directly experiencing the effects of climate change, expressed his belief that such programs will increase awareness among the youth and help in leadership development. Vice-Chancellor of Purbanchal University, Prof. Dr. Biju Kumar Thapaliya, emphasized that educational institutions should focus not only on knowledge, but also on producing responsible citizens.

Similarly, Morang Chief District Officer Yubaraj Kattel, College Principal Gyan Bahadur Khadka, Tribhuvan University Prof. Dr. Shivakumar Rai, Associate Professor Kul Prasad Limbu and Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Environment Vikram Amatya among others pointed out that policy, education and practical changes are indispensable to face the climate crisis.

In the competitive presentation, the 'Thorium Group' was declared the best and came first. The judging team of Tribhuvan University Prof. Dr. Shivakumar Rai and Associate Professor Kul Prasad Limbu had declared the group the first. They received a cash prize of Rs 30,000.
