A five-bed basic hospital has come into operation in Falgunanda Rural Municipality of Panchthar. The municipal-level hospital, which was completed in Falgunanda-5 Phaktape, has started providing services from Saturday.
The hospital, which was built with the aim of expanding quality health services in rural areas, was inaugurated even before its inauguration, informed Rural Municipality Chairman Brijhang Angdembe.
Falgunanda Hospital is one of the 396 basic hospitals that were laid at the same time in all seven provinces on Mangsir 15, 2077, as per the federal government's policy. The one-and-a-half-storey hospital building has been constructed on about nine ropanis of land provided free of charge by the locals near Ghurbise Panchami.
The building, which was completed by Jayamata GRD JV, Kathmandu at a cost of Rs 64.632 crore, was completed within 18 months as per the agreement, but there was some delay due to various reasons.
The hospital has infrastructure including emergency, maternity services, operation theater, X-ray, ECG, USG, pharmacy, laboratory, minor operations, parking, septic tank and soak pit. According to Devi Tumbapo, Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, 18 health workers, including one medical officer, have been appointed in the hospital.
Inspection and monitoring have been carried out through the NHCCCP under the Ministry of Health, and the rural municipality has been regularly monitoring the construction and technical aspects. Currently, the hospital is providing integrated health services including Ayurveda services.
