Village council chair Dipendra Pomu said that the decision to operate the office at the old hours was decided at the executive meeting on Wednesday as the federal government's decision did not seem practical.

The federal government has decided to give two days off a week, Saturday and Sunday, to offices and schools, effective from this week. The decision has been made to operate the office from 9 am to 5 pm and to take two days off a week instead.
However, Aathrai Triveni Rural Municipality of Taplejung has decided not to accept this decision of the federal government. The 60th executive meeting of the rural municipality held on Wednesday decided to open the office only at 10 am and not to take a day off on Sunday, informed the rural municipality chairman Dipendra Pomu.
He said, ‘This decision made by the federal government was not practical. In our case, when the service recipients from Niguradin, Change, come after having lunch, they finally arrive around 11/12 pm, and the employees also have to walk for two hours.’
He said that since the government’s decision did not seem practical, it was decided to operate the office at the old time from the executive meeting on Wednesday. Pomu said that the decision was made after discussing with all the people's representatives and employees, including the concerned parties.
Chairman Pomu also wrote on Facebook, 'Athrai Triveni Rural Municipality will not have a holiday on Saturday and Sunday. It will be a holiday only on Saturday. The office will be open from 10-5. Instead, if there is work on holidays, additional incentives will be arranged to operate the offices.'
However, the information according to the executive's decision has not been placed on the municipality's website. Chairman Pomu said that since it is the main working time of the fiscal year, the federal government's decision to change the office hours cannot be implemented. 'Even after practicing, it did not seem right under any circumstances,' he said. He also said that the office was operating at 9 am until Wednesday.
Pomu also mentioned that the school will also have a holiday only on Saturday. 'The Curriculum Development Center has designed a 220-day course. There are only 190 days of schooling,' he said, 'If it is according to the decision made by the federal government now, then it seems that there will be only 86 days of schooling after deducting all kinds of holidays and exams held at the local level. And where will our education go? That is why we could not implement the decision of the federal government.'
Pomu had protested on Chaitra 23 even when the government was making the decision. He had written, 'There will be more protests. Two days of vacation in a week without preparation is not productive and implementation is difficult. This is the time to work. Either change the fiscal year and change the curriculum of education, otherwise it will be difficult.'
Pomu is also the acting chairman of the CPN-UML district committee. In this rural municipality, the elected people's representatives from the UML also have a single majority in the executive.
