A newborn baby has been found abandoned in a cornfield in Kamal Rural Municipality-3, Kerkha, Jhapa.
According to the District Police, a newborn baby girl was found in a cornfield near a local person's house at around 6:10 this morning.
48-year-old Leela Raj Thapa immediately informed the police after seeing the baby. Upon receiving the information, a team deployed from the Kerkha Police Station rescued the baby with the help of locals.
After the rescue, the baby was sent to the Kioch Children's Hospital in Damak for treatment, according to the police. The baby's condition is currently reported to be normal.
Police said that they have intensified the search and identification work for the baby's mother and the person concerned. In addition, further investigation into the incident is underway.
