Kankai Municipality of Jhapa has won the title of the 18th edition of the Koshi Province Inter-municipal Ram Navami Cup Volleyball Tournament being held in Hile, Dhankuta.
Kankai defeated Ram Prasad Rai Rural Municipality of Bhojpur in the final match held on Friday at the Hile Sports Ground.
Kankai managed to defeat the West of Five in a straight set of 25-17, 25-22, 25-18. Kankai won Rs 22,222 along with the title. Runner-up Ram Prasad Rural Municipality settled for Rs 111,111.
Sanjeev Tamang, President of Hile Volleyball Club, informed that nine municipalities of Koshi Province are participating in the tournament that started last Tuesday.
The winning and runner-up teams were awarded by Dhankuta Municipality Mayor Chintan Tamang and Hile Market Management Committee Chairman Lalchandra Gongba. On the occasion, the players were also given category-specific awards. Volleyball competitions have been held in Hile since 2055 BS on the occasion of Ram Navami festival.
