Furlamu Sherpa, 14, of Makalu Rural Municipality-2 in Sankhuwasabha, was rescued by a Nepali Army helicopter on Sunday.

Sherpa, who had been in labor for more than 18 hours, had lost her baby in her womb. An immediate rescue was initiated after her life was in danger due to her complicated condition.

Doctors said that she needed to be taken outside the district for specialist treatment after experiencing severe labor pain, bleeding and other complex symptoms. She was rescued using a Nepali Army helicopter under the Presidential Air Rescue Program, an air rescue program for pregnant women and newborns at risk in remote areas. After the rescue, she was taken to Kathmandu for further treatment.
