The Pathibhara temple area in Taplejung is covered in snow. According to locals, the ninth snowfall is the thickest this season.
Snow has entered the trust, causing some difficulty in movement for pilgrims. A trust has been set up on foot from the upper foothills to the temple.
According to Rajendra Mahat, an employee of the Pathibhara Area Development Committee, there were the highest number of pilgrims this season on Saturday. Mahat informed that there were more than 1,800 pilgrims on Saturday. Pathibhara is at an altitude of 3,794 meters.
You have to walk 5 kilometers from the lower foothills, i.e. Kaflepati, which is 2,700 meters high. Means of transport operate up to Kaflepati. There are human settlements, i.e. hotels, up to the upper foothills, which are 3,100 meters high. Mahat informed that children and the elderly face more problems during the cold season when there is snow.
When there are many pilgrims, they line up and offer darshan early, says Pathibhara priest Tika Poudel. According to Poudel, arrangements have been made for the elderly and disabled to be worshipped without queuing and to keep the fire warm. Fires are lit where the priests live.
