The 'Second Pindeshwor Rath Yatra' and chariot festival have begun at the Babadham Temple of Pindeshwor, a historical and religious pilgrimage site here. The Rath Yatra, which began on Thursday at Pindeshwor Babadham located in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-14, will continue till Chaitra 19.

The Rath Yatra has been jointly organized by Pindeshwor Babadham Committee and Pindeshwor Mahadev Temple and with the support of the Budhasubba Temple Maintenance and Conservation Council, Dantakali Temple Management Committee, and Panchakanya Temple Management Committee, informed Bikash Banepali, Chairman of Pindeshwor Babadham Sewa Samiti.

According to him, the second Pindeshwor Rath Yatra has been organized as mentioned in the mythological, historical and religious Mahatmya. He said that this Rath Yatra aims to revive ancient religious traditions.

The chariot festival will start from Budhasubba Temple on Chaitra 13 and will be formally concluded by going around Dharan Bazaar on Chaitra 19, said the main priest Gokul Pokharel. The organizers have stated that Rudri Puja and grand bhajan-kirtan will be performed daily from 9 am throughout the rath yatra period. The rath yatra held on Thursday started from Pindeshwor Temple and ended at Pindeshwor Temple via Dantakali, Panchakanya and Budhasubba Temples. 

The rath yatra saw a large presence of devotees including temple priest Pokharel, Koshi Province member  Ramesh Kumar Basnet, Koshi Province former Speaker Pradeep Kumar Bhandari, CPN-UML central member Manju Bhandari, central member Murari Subedi, Dharan-14 ward chairman Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and school students.
