The foundation stone of the road blacktop from Khanidanda-Yamkha Ratmata-Diprung Chuichumma Rural Municipality Office to Panchami Bazaar has been laid.

Koshi Province Assembly member Bhupendra Rai laid the foundation stone of the road blacktop on Thursday. The Koshi Province Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development is planning to blacktop 8.02 kilometers of the road at a cost of about 170 million, 3782 thousand 49 million rupees. USG-Rattakanya-Himshrinkhala JV Kathmandu had signed an agreement with the Infrastructure Development Office Khotang on 18 February 2082 to complete the project by 17 February 2084.

Although the estimated cost of the project was 249 million 966 thousand 220 rupees, the contract was awarded for 75 million less than that. The agreement states that road cutting, construction of concrete drains, retaining walls and mesh, pipe culverts, road slopes and asphalt blacktop will be done.

The provincial government has given permission to call for contracts for the project on a multi-year basis by ensuring resources, so the budget will be managed accordingly, said Binam Dahal, head of the Infrastructure Development Office, Khotang. According to him, a budget of Rs 50 million has been allocated for the current fiscal year.

Construction-related side in-charge Govinda Lamichhane said that the plan is to complete the road cutting and retaining walls before the monsoon and then start the drain and other works. Lamichhane said that the target is to blacktop the project before Asad 2084.

Dahal, head of the Infrastructure Development Office, Khotang, said that there are no problems in terms of budget, site disputes and technical issues for the project. Bhupendra Rai, who is also the former Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development and Health of Koshi Province, said that since the road is an important link between the northern and southern regions of the district, work must be done quickly to complete it on time.
