Following the delay in the construction of the concrete bridge under construction over the Dikhwa Khola, the Infrastructure Development Office, Khotang, has warned that it will increase the process of confiscating the bank guarantee of the construction entrepreneurs concerned if the work does not start within 7 days.

The office has warned that it will confiscate the bank guarantee of the construction entrepreneurs who delay the construction of the bridge over the Dikhwa Khola, which is located between Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-4 Khalle and Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-15 Bijaykharka.

According to Binam Dahal, Chief Engineer of the Infrastructure Development Office, Khotang, a letter was sent to Anshubi/Nepal Phulbari/Pingala JV Sunsari, which was contracted to build the bridge, on Falgun 12 to explain the reason for not confiscating the bank guarantee within 7 days. Dahal said that the process of confiscating the bank guarantee will increase if the work does not start within 7 days.

Dahal said that Basanta Budhathoki signed an agreement on behalf of the construction company on December 23 to complete the project at a cost of about 30 million rupees. The steel materials required for the bridge worth about 20 million rupees were provided by the Koshi Province Road Bridge Support Unit. Including this, the total cost of the bridge will be about 55 million rupees, Dahal said.

The construction of a truss bridge on the Dikhwa River has been started in partnership with the Infrastructure Development Office, Gaighat, under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development, Koshi Province, and the Province Road Bridge Support Unit, Itahari. Dahal said that the request was made because the foundation work on one side of the bridge has not been completed so far and there is no basis for the work to be performed as per the agreement.

Most of the construction materials have been brought to the construction site, but Roshan Rai, who is involved in the construction, said that the work has been delayed due to the breakdown of the machine and the election. Rai said that the work will start soon as the machine is being repaired.

The bridge is located on the Diktel-Khanidadaan-Regmitar road section. Once the bridge is built at that location, the distance to reach Diktel via Rajapani-Bijayakharka-Buipa-Mahure, which is part of the Gaighat-Diktel road, will be shortened by 17 kilometers. The foundation stone of the bridge was laid by Bhupendra Rai, former Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development of Koshi Province, on Jestha 17.
