The Taplejung section of the Mechi Highway has been blocked since Saturday morning. The road was blocked due to a landslide in the Khoksekhola area due to rain, informed Navin Upreti, the supervisor in charge of Taplejung under the Road Division Office Ilam.
According to Upreti, efforts are being made to clear the first section using excavators and JCBs. However, he said that it is not certain how long it will take as the landslide has not stopped.
As the road is being upgraded, obstacles are created even during normal rains. He has also urged people to travel only with proper understanding during rains.
